During the first week I arrived the office it was very different for me working with a female sport. As I began it started off moving slow as the summer had jus began. During this time I was in charge of going in the locker room and taking out all the old equipment. I removed old spandex and cleaned the locker room up and straightened up each girls locker.

Still during the first week so there still wasn't much to do. Although there was still old business to be done I reorganized the storage locker and received the new Nike equipment for the upcoming school year. I took inventory check and went through all the equipment. I keep track of what was coming in, what was missing, and what needed to be shipped back.

I was intorduced to the scouting software that Tiffin University volleyball team uses. The software was very up to date on how to use it. I began looking through players that the coaches were potentially persuing. Not to mention the annual golf outing was approaching. I had the duty of loading the box
truck with all the materials needed for the outing. I also had the duty of driving the box truck to finish collecting materials for the outing.

The volleyball team holds a camp every year and invite local high schools to come and participate in the tournament. I was in charge of calling the coaches and making sure they were still attending the camp. The registration forms were in and I had to sort through them and determine what teams were commuting, which teams were staying in the dorms, and what teams were getting hotels. Also I was in charge of going through the volleyball equipment and making sure we had enough for the camp and what still needed to be ordered.

With the camp coming up it was time to start putting together the schedule for the camp tournament. I was in charge of inputting the teams into the computer in a excel sheet and matching teams to play. I also had the duty of making the lunch cards for the players to use when on campus and also located all possible places for coach to order dinner for the teams to eat dinner. I also was responsible for the contact of coaches for conformation and getting the camp players shirt sizes
together.

Being the intern this year I was granted the opportunity of designing the shirts for the girls volleyball team. I was in charge of designing 7 rough draft shirts. The shirts consisted of many different team saying's that the volleyball team uses and others were main principals that the team holds their players to. Then those shirts would be sent in and decided on which ones would make the first cut. Also with the team camp approaching the finialized tournament schedule was due and I also started putting together player profile's for each player for the coach.

As the final selection of 4 shirts was made and it was time to redesign them and clean them up. I redesigned all four shirts and add some new things some shirts had too many things on them and had to be scrapped. The shirts were finalized and then resent back in for their final votes and one shirt was selected. The new Nike equipment arrived and inventory had to be taken. I received the package of new stuff and had to break everything down by color and size. After all equipment was accounted it was my duty to put it away, with the equipment that needed to go back was left out and sent back to Nike.

With the volleyball camp still approaching time was becoming an essence. During these hours I was responsible for the pick up of the equipment for the camp. I had to get the camp t-shirts in order by size and also make sure the food was accounted for dinner. With that we put a scoring table together that would be updated by game so that teams could always know scores of other tournament games. Also I had to reorganize the storage closet and find shirts that we would be selling to the public at the camp and other gear that we were selling. We sold all types of volleyball gear that was useful to the girls from spanx, to shoes, to knee pads, to regular t-shirts and warm-ups. The apparel that the girls would have the opportunity to get was a steal because it was much cheaper than what they would get it at the store for.

With most of the bigger things complete it was time for the minor things that still needed to be done. I went back into the locker room and divided each teams shirts
up by team. Also I was in charge of creating the meal cards for the players to eat lunch with during the camp. The camp preperation was pretty much done after the creation of the meal cards.

Now that all camp work was done my next task was to organize player information for varsity roster. I was gathering each player on the roster information. Such as their address, phone number, and email. This was for coach purposes and was in order to start sending out information about teh upcoming year and camp information that the players needed. I also was in charge of making copies for the player binders that would be assembled soon. the player binders had all the players main needs for school and athletic purposes. The binder included things like camp schedule, academic year schedule, game schedule, study time hours, and much more.

Now that the camp was here it was time for work to begin. In the beginning of the camp I was in charge of taking the coaches and players to their on-campus dorms and making sure they were settled in before the camp started. I was in charge of making sure every team got to their room and was aware of where the buildings for the games would be played. When the camp began I was in charge of running the merchandise table that had all the gear that we were selling to the camp girls and their families. I also helped run the score tables for some games in the Heminger and also the Main Gym.

Now that the camp was over it was time to help put things back and clean up from the camp. Taking down and storing the nets back to their original position was very difficult. The clean-up part of the camp was definately my least favorite. Also the varsity roster was complete and it was now time for me to do the same for the incoming freshman and the players that played junior varsity last year. Just like the varsity roster I was in charge of gathering their address, phone, and email. Also the final shipment for the Nike order arrived and inventory for it had to be taken. Inventory was taken by me and the remainder of the Nike equipment had arrived.

With the team approaching reporting date it was time for the new Nike gear to be distributed into the girls lockers. I organized the locker room for the girls an placed all new gear in their lockers for them to try on and determine what else was still needed and what needed to be replaced. During this time I was also in charge of taking inventory of how many volleyballs the team had and reorganizing the game jerseys and their conditions. Also the binders for the handbooks were delivered and the documents that needed to be placed in them were made.

The student handbook for the players was a big task to do. The handbook contained a lot of information for the team and had everything that they needed for the school year. The binder contained things like camp schedule, academic year schedule, game schedule, study time hours, travel rules, and team policies.
Every player coming into volleyball camp had must received a handbook and better had been aware of it by reporting day. Coach told me that she would be asking them questions partainig to the student handbook.

Still organizing their student handbooks I was finishing up and finishing up my hours. The handbooks had many documents that still had to be put in them also with my final days approaching I wanted to make sure that everything was the way coach wanted it before I was done. I went back through the locker room and made sure all the players gear/equipment was in their locker and I also walked through the storage room and made sure it was clean and organzied. The experience that I had was greatly appreciated I was given the opportunity to do something different than what I do on a day to day basis and I enjoyed it. I had a great experience doing this internship and I enjoyed the opportunity.

As my final semester comes to an end the experience that I have had throughout school has been very influential. Through the internship that I was provided I was able to enhance my skills through Microsoft and computer work and also got the chance to experience off the court hours of another team. With playing football I understand how it can be but getting the chance to work for another team was a great opportunity. Also I was able to help design and create history within the program. The relationship between both coaches and myself was excellent, we had good communication throughout the internship and were able to finish jobs effectively without confusion. With the internship I got a good feeling of the business aspects of college and what goes on off the court. I was giving the opportunity to work with coaches on the off season procedures in order to get ready for the upcoming season. There are still many things to learn, but with the internship it has enhanced my knowledge of collegiate athletics and coaching. Finally, if someone was interested in an internship position like mine I would tell them to look for something that they will 100% enjoy and something that will benefit them. I believe that the internship I was involved in benefited me I just wish that it was maybe at a bigger school for more networking purposes.
